It would have been easier to create a brand name, hand the idea to someone else, and wait for the finished product to arrive.

But Rafa was never meant to be just a name on a pack.

We wanted to understand the ingredients we work with. To see how they change through every stage. To make the small decisions that shape the final product — and to keep learning from every batch we make.

So we chose to stay close to the making.

When you make your own products, you notice things that are easy to miss from a distance.

The natural variation between one ingredient and the next. The way a different cut changes texture. The moment a product is exactly as it should be — and the moment it is not.

These details matter to us.

Working under our own roof allows our team to remain close to the ingredients, close to the process and close to the decisions behind every pack.

It means quality is not simply something we request.

It is something we take responsibility for.

Chicken breast is not kangaroo. Green-lipped mussel is different from ling fish. And Australian sardines behave nothing like anchovies.

Each ingredient brings its own character — its own texture, structure, aroma and natural variation.

We do not believe exceptional ingredients should be pushed through a one-size-fits-all process. We take the time to understand what each one needs and continually refine the way it is prepared and freeze-dried.

Because respecting an ingredient begins long before it reaches the pack.

It begins with what we choose to bring into our facility. With how an ingredient is handled. With the care taken by the people preparing it. With the willingness to stop, question and improve when something does not meet our expectations.

From the first look at an ingredient to the moment a finished pack leaves us, the responsibility remains with our team.

There is no distance between the Rafa name and the people who make it.

We want to stand behind it with confidence — not only because it carries our name, but because it will become part of the life someone shares with their pet.
